Sarah Ghumrawi, a third-grader at Riverview Elementary in Stow, won the 2012 Akron Aeros Holiday Greeting Card Contest, according to the school’s website.
Ghumrawi, 9, drew Orbit, the Aeros’ mascot, and a snowman holding a baseball bat, to win four tickets to the Aeros’ home opener on April 4. Ghumrawi also received signed Aeros’ memorabilia and a chance to the throw out a first pitch. Her design will be featured on the Aeros’ holiday e-card.
There were eight honorable mentions, including third-grader Garrett Graham, also from Riverview Elementary, and third-grader Reagan Timko from Seton Catholic School in Hudson.
This was the Aeros’ first greeting card contest. There were nearly 200 entries.
