STOW: The request made by auto dealer Ron Marhofer for the Stow Planning Commission’s approval of a text amendment to permit auto sales and or rental as a conditional use in C-3 Community Retail District was removed from the agenda on Tuesday afternoon.

John Slagter of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs LLP, agent for the property owner, RLM Darrow LLC, made the request.

Planning Commission Chairman David Kohlmeier said that Slagter, the attorney representing Marhofer, made the request to have the item removed from the agenda due to scheduling conflicts.

Marhofer wants to redevelop the area around his business, which would involve the demolition of existing homes on Thorndale Avenue.

The planning commission will address a study item whether or not to add a conditional use of auto sales in C-3 districts.

According to Stow Mayor Sara Drew, this would apply city wide.
“It is not specific to the Marhofer site,” Drew said.

It has not been reported when this item will reappear on the planning commission’s agenda. Stay tuned to Stow.Ohio.com for continuing coverage of this story.
