The Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association is recognizing the Stow-Munroe Falls High School girl’s varsity basketball team for obtaining the highest grade point average in Ohio for the year.
The team averaged 3.957 for the 2012-13 school year.
Stow Athletic Director Cyle Feldman praised the girls and coaches for their focus on academics.
“Not only are they learning life lessons participating, but they have prepared themselves well academically for success in college,” Feldman said.
The varsity girls basketball coach Bob Podges says that while the coaches monitor grades and stress the importance of performing well in the classroom, the girl’s success is their own.
“The credit goes to the girls and how they were raised,” Podges said. “They take responsibility for their grades. These group of girls are truly great leaders and students on and off the court.”
The team will receive a plaque for their achievement and a team pizza party courtesy of the Ohio National Guard.
