STOW: Mayor Sara Drew announced during Thursday's City Council meeting the construction on Darrow Road is ahead of schedule and the roadway will reopen Saturday.
The Ohio Department of Transportation closed state Route 91, just south of state Route 59 (near Tip Top restuaraunt and Marhofer Chevrolet) on Monday for a culvert replacement.
ODOT officials predicted a 10 day closure and advised motorists to use the detour from Howe Avenue. to state Route 8/state Route 59 to state Route 59 to state Route 91. However, Drew said the city worked with ODOT to create a local, shorter detour for the project.
Local motorists are advised to use the marked detour "down Hiwood (Avenue) and Echo (Road) as opposed to Marcella (Aveunue) and Maple (Road)," Drew said. "And Yukon (Avenue), as people will note, is only for northbound, local traffic.
The work is part of a $330,000 project to replace a culvert on state Route 91, just south of state Route 59. The entire project is expected to be completed by Oct. 2013.
