By Heather Beyer correspondent

STOW:  At a board meeting last Monday evening, Treasurer Catherine Bulgrin was recognized with two awards for financial reporting.

Jason Dubeansky, ofn behalf of Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), awarded Bulgrin and the district with the Certificate of Excellence Award for financial reporting.

“The district has actually won this award for eight years running and I have had the distinct privilege to be here the last seven years,” Dubeansky said.

In addition, she was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

According to the Government Finance Officers Association, the district was one of 103 schools in the state to be recognized with this award in 2012.

“I would like to thank the board for their support of the fiscal office, and of course my staff, the administration and all of our employees,” Bulgrin said after accepting the award. “This report is very voluminous and it is impossible to complete single handed and without everyone working as a team we would not be able to achieve this. “

Board President Karen Wright said in an email statement that she would like to congratulate Bulgrin and her staff on receiving the awards.

“We are proud of the responsible management of our District's budget and fiscal integrity,” Wright said. “Not only does she have a history of excellence in reporting, but Mrs. Bulgrin continues to communicate our District's financial picture to the public.”

The next board meeting will be on Sept. 23 at 7p.m. at Echo Hills.
