The 55th Stow Fourth of July Parade will step off at 10 a.m. Thursday on Route 59 at the Stow-Kent Shopping Center and will travel past Holy Family Church.
This year this City of Stow is proudly touting the theme: "Community Service - True Patriotism."
Parade sponsors are the City of Stow and the Kiwanis Club of Stow-Munroe Falls.
Dr. Leo Kline was named the Grand Marshall of this year’s parade last week at the Stow Pride Community Breakfast.
Kline moved to Stow in 1960 and opened the Graham Road Animal Hospital at 713 Graham Road.
Kline has also has been active with the community as the president of the Stow Youth Baseball organization for more than 25 years.
"Most of the things that I have ever done have been on the sidelines and I think that is why I have done so much of it," Kline said at the community breakfast. "I really have a very great regard for the City of Stow. If I had to choose a place to live I think that the City of Stow is number one in the area. I don't think that you can top the education or the people. It is a very good community."
To assemble the day of the parade, entries will line up in the parking lot at Stow-Kent Shopping Center and use only the Fishcreek Road entrance.
All non-parade vehicles should park in the north or south parking lots of Macy's.
Entries that have signed up to be judged must arrive by 8 a.m., ready to be judged.
Kent Road will be blocked off to outside traffic at 9:15 a.m.
A line-up number will be mailed or emailed to the contact person for each registered entrant one week before the parade. All entries should know their line-up number the day of the parade.
The deadline to apply for the 55th Stow Fourth of July parade was May 31.
Those who did not register, pay any necessary fees and receive a lineup number, will not be permitted to participate in the parade. A late fee of $100 is assessed to late application submissions. Those who have floats that will distribute candy, literature or promotional items to the crowd must pay a $50 handling fee at registration.
Anyone that would like to participate must submit an application to the Stow Parks and Recreation office. The application, along with details and rules for the parade, can be found on the City of Stow’s website, www.stow.oh.us.
